Church GrowthChurch growth ideas are disseminated in the UK by British Church Growth Association, and in the USA by the American Society for Church Growth. Church growth is taught at the school of Church Growth at Fuller Theological Seminary. Data on the growth of the Christian Church is collected and analysed by Christian Research in the UK. RevivalRevival within the Christian Church can be split into past or historic revivals, and into contemporary ones. Many past revivals are well documented and regarded favourably by most evangelical Christians. The free section of the Heath Christian Bookshop has extensive documents on revivals in Wales. Contemporary revivals are more controversial and only time will tell whether they stand alongside revivals of the past. Two recent candidates for revival are the Toronto Blessing, documented by Richard Riss, and the Alpha Course. Systems DynamicsSystems dynamics is one of the methods, along with mathematical modelling, used to construct the church growth models. Further information can be found at the Systems Dynamics Society More Systems Dynamics Links... Sociology of ReligionChurch growth is also of interest to sociologists of religion. There are a number of societies devoted to the study of religion at the research level such as Society for the Scientific Study of Religion. USA church data gathered by researchers is kept at the American Religion Data Archive. Sociologists also have an interest in methods of simulation which are similar to the church growth models. See Centre for Research on Simulation in the Social Sciences. More Sociology of Religion Links... |
